The July rains came down nearly all game long making the turf and the football extremely slippery. The Jaguars championship defense held the Cavaliers to just 19 total yards in a 37-7 victory. The Cavaliers first took the lead for nearly all the first half when Cavalier defensive back Daniel Brown picked off a Leo Dickerson pass and rambled 35 yards for the touchdown. The Jags went to the ground game and answered back with a touchdown by RB Dwayne Buckley in the first quarter. In the second quarter Jaguars QB Dickerson hit WR Mike Bush for a touchdown followed by a 2 point conversion catch by WR Anthony Montgomery giving the Jaguars the lead with under a minute left in the half. The Cavaliers never saw the end zone again. On defense the Jaguars DL Shawn Lovelace lead the Jags with 6 tackles including a QB sack for a safety. Jaguar LB Dion Alexander followed him closely with 6 tackles. |
